Jason Gormley

Creative Director, Wolff Olins

Jason began working life as a kitchenhand in a $5-all-you-can-eat seafood restaurant in Adelaide, South Australia. Tired of fat-burns he left to pursue his dream career as an advertising writer.

McCann Erickson gave him his first break, but it wasn't long before he left to try his luck in London - home of the world's most creative advertising. Months of lifting boxes and packing videos followed before he landed a job at Lintas (now Lowe) where he created the infamous Peperami ‘It's a bit of an animal' campaign. It won loads of awards, shifted tonnes of meat product and BMP DDB snapped Jason up to work on beer ads (Michelob) car ads (VW) and New Labour (He invented their ‘Pledge Card’).

Seeking change he split for San Francisco, then Sydney, but a job offer at the upstart agency St Lukes boomeranged him back to the UK. When his wanderlust flared up again he freelanced around the world (at places like 180 Amsterdam, 4Creative, Fallon, Glue Society, Mother) before making a home at M&C Saatchi, London.

His new life in design began this year when Wolff Olins (a client from his freelance days) asked him to join the world of branding.
