Matthew Neilson

Head of Environmental Solutions, Royal Mail

 

Matthew was appointed to his role of Head of Environmental Solutions in September 2008 after creating Royal Mail’s responsible mail programme in 2007.

Matthew is currently building Royal Mail’s environmental strategy for achieving sustainable growth. Working with a wide range of stakeholders, including industry and government, he is developing programmes to help make mail more environmentally responsible.

The first examples of his team’s output can be seen in the British Standards Institute led environmental specification for direct marketing (PAS 2020) and associated Royal Mail service, Sustainable Mail, and the pilot of a new recycling service for small electrical items, Simply Drop.

Matthew joined Royal Mail Group in 1993 and has held management positions in a wide range of areas, from employee welfare through to innovation and marketing.

Matthew is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and trustee of The Living Rainforest near Newbury.
