The Commonwealth Club

The Commonwealth Club, home of the Royal Commonwealth Society, is proud to host this event for the Green Awards. The Club exists as a venue to financially support the work of the RCS by donating all profits to the charity. As well as being a venue for events, it is also a private club for members of the RCS, providing a place where people from across the globe come together to trade knowledge, contacts and experiences, a centre for the exchange of ideas.

The Club also seeks to support organisations that have similar values and agendas to that of the RCS, such as the Green Awards. Not only is the RCS committed to making sure the Commonwealth makes a useful contribution to climate action, it also has a number of educational projects that aim to engage young people in becoming more globally aware citizens.

“Climate change is already a central issue on the Commonwealth table . When they met in Lake Victoria in 2007 , Commonwealth Heads of Governments signalled their intent to use the unique association of 53 diverse member states to tackle climate change. The RCS, the oldest and largest civil society organisation devoted to the Commonwealth, is committed to making sure that the leaders' live up to their word and that the Commonwealth makes a useful contribution to climate action. We will do this through our own portfolio of charitable activities but also by pushing for action at the next leaders meeting in Trinidad and Tobago in November.”
